Record attendance at the Networking and Crucible meeting in March
Deiglufundur – Yfir í lágkolefnishagkerfi
Festa member companies met at an electronic Deiglu meeting on March 8. At the meeting, sustainability consultants KPMG Iceland presented the report "Carbon Neutrality - Leaping from Goals to Actions", which focuses on how we set up a targeted action plan towards carbon neutrality in operations. These are the actions we undertake *before* it comes to purchasing certified units for carbon offsets as discussed at the last Deiglu meeting. The report itself can be accessed here.
Two more member companies then spoke about their journey towards carbon neutrality, Jóhanna Hlín Auðunsdóttir, Director of Climate and Environment at Landsvirkjun, and Guðmundur Halldórsson, CEO of Te og kaffi. The companies are different and of different sizes, but both have a clear strategy and place great emphasis on identifying challenges and opportunities in this regard. As Guðmundur said at the meeting:
„enginn getur gert allt, en allir geta gert eitthvað.“
Crucible meetings are online meetings where we address issues that are relevant and urgent in the world of sustainability. We discuss what is in the crucible – and that is why we call these meetings Crucible meetings. Festa member organizations use this platform to share their journey, knowledge, and challenges with each other.
It is also nice to report that there was a record attendance at this Crucible Conference.

Networking meeting at Íslandsbanki
Íslandsbanki bauð aðildarfélögum Festu á Tengslafund 22. mars. Það var frábær mæting – fullur salur.
Íslandsbanki has implemented sustainability thinking into all of the bank's operations and it can be said that there is a high awareness and interest in sustainability among management and employees. A multidisciplinary group of employees sits on the bank's Sustainability Committee, which is one of the bank's core committees, with the CEO as the chairman of the committee.
Að hafa sjálfbærni sem hluta af vinnulagi í bankanum gefur bankanum aukið samkeppnisforskot og hefur aukið ánægju viðskiptavina. Stjórnendur bankans finna einnig fyrir auknum áhuga á málefninu meðal fólks sem sækir um störf hjá bankanum. Þessi stefna hjálpar því bankanum að laða til sín hæft starfsfólk.
Íslandsbanki has set a goal of carbon neutrality by 2040 and includes all of the bank's lending activities in those goals.
Thanks for the lively discussions and a great Networking Meeting!
Among the topics discussed was the so-called “issue of issues” – companies are facing significant changes in terms of sustainability laws and disclosure. We recently published a roadmap on this.
„Við eigum að þora að tala um það sem skiptir máli, þó við séum ekki fullkomin“
