We are truly inspired after visiting Isavia at the Festa Networking Meeting on March 6th and hearing from Sveinbjörn Indriðason, CEO, and the company's sustainability experts, Hrönn Ingólfsdóttir, Head of Strategy and Sustainability, Gunnlaug Bjarki Snædal, Project Manager, and Stefán Kári Sveinbjörnsson, Project Manager. Isavia's sustainability work is exemplary; it has been working for a decade on a sustainability strategy and has therefore integrated sustainability into all operations. "Financial accounting is sustainability accounting." Isavia's sustainability strategy is based on three pillars of sustainability (people, land, prosperity), but is divided into four areas: quality of life, value creation, and then the environmental aspect gets two parts: resource utilization and climate, which is to highlight climate issues in particular, as reducing the carbon footprint requires special attention. Isavia has ambitious emission targets and has completed level 4 out of 6 in the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) carbon certification system, a project of the Airports Association International (ACI) 🛩 This system is often compared to the goals and work involved in the Science Based Targets initiative. Isavia has systematically worked to create a constructive culture among employees and monitors the results with specific metrics. Isavia's CEO believes this is the key to the company's success. We certainly felt this, but this was the first Networking Meeting where the CEO takes meeting guests through a mindfulness exercise at the beginning of the meeting. We would like to thank Isavia for their sincere and informative presentation - and also the Festa member companies for attending and participating in meaningful discussions.
