Loftslags
goal
Fyrirtæki geta dregið úr losun sinni á gróðurhúsalofttegundum (GHL) og tekið þannig þátt í baráttunni við loftslagsbreytingar. Aðgerðir fyrirtækja í loftslagsmálum skipta sköpum og án þeirra er ólíklegt að þjóðir heims geti staðið við Parísarsáttmálann eða að Ísland nái markmiði sínu um að verða kolefnishlutlaust fyrir árið 2040.
Festa Climate Leadership Project
Árið 2023 var nýtt loftslagsverkefni sett á lagnirnar á vettvangi Festu.
The project brings together senior executives of Icelandic companies that have committed to aligning their carbon footprint with the Paris Agreement by setting Science Based Targets (SBTi).
The CEOs of these companies will be responsible for the success of the project and be its public face. The project thus creates a platform for business leaders who want to be the hares and take a leading role in the climate action of the Icelandic business community.
The project's mission statement was approved by the directors in September 2023, and the project will officially begin in 2024.

Climate Declaration of Festa and the City of Reykjavík
In November 2015, over one hundred CEOs of companies and organizations signed a declaration to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This was a major milestone and the level of participation was gratifying, as the project attracted international attention and was presented at the Paris Climate Conference (COP21) at the end of 2015.
The declaration is called the Climate Declaration of Festa and the City of Reykjavík, and Festa and the City of Reykjavík have supported the companies to work systematically on their climate issues. In 2019, Festa also began collaborating with the Municipality of Akureyri, and in February 2020, Hornafjörður Municipality joined. In both places, 20 companies and institutions signed.
The products of this work are a knowledge community, a shared methodology, and the Festa Climate Meter (based on international standards) that companies can use to analyze their emissions and set goals.
To make it easier for companies to manage their greenhouse gas emissions, Festa's Climate Meter can be used. It contains standardized criteria and templates that a group of experts at Festa has put together to facilitate the measurement and goal-setting of greenhouse gas emissions.

The Climate Declaration of Festa and the City of Reykjavík, Festa and the Town of Akureyri, and Festa and the Municipality of Hornafjörður, is a declaration by companies and institutions to be collectively responsible.
Loftslagsmælirinn
Festa's climate meter makes measuring and setting goals for GHG emissions and waste easier. It includes instructions, calculators, coefficients and input fields. Festa's climate meter is designed to help companies keep track of their work in this area. It is available in both an Excel file and a web version, see the button below. The meter comes with a detailed instructional video and experience stories from companies that have already started their journey.
The online version of the meter offers the possibility of receiving measurement results in report form and organized by scope 1, 2 and 3.
Festa entered into a collaboration agreement with EFLA Engineering in 2020, which includes the important contribution of experts at Efla in updating Festa's Climate Meter in excel and web version, according to annual updates by the expert group that manages the metrics and updates them annually. Efla's contribution is of great importance to small non-profit organizations like Festa, and we thank them very much.

Climate criteria
Nauðsynlegt er að epli séu epli í loftslagsmálum. Því notum við sömu viðmið við losun GHL og úrgangs svo hægt væri að bera árangur fyrirtækjanna saman og fá heildaryfirsýn. Stuðst er við alþjóðleg viðmið á þessu sviði svo íslensk fyrirtæki geti borið sig saman sín á milli og við fyrirtæki um allan heim.
Yfirlýsing um loftslagsmál
Companies and institutions are invited to sign the Climate Declaration of Festa and the City of Reykjavík/Akureyrarbær/Hornafjörður. It sets out three clear and measurable goals that the companies are working towards.
We, the undersigned, intend to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and minimize negative environmental impacts through targeted actions.
The nations of the world are now facing the consequences of catastrophic warming. The United Nations is playing a leading role in identifying the problem, addressing it, and adapting to changing circumstances. Many of the world's largest and most influential companies have joined the group. Join us.
Cities and towns, along with businesses of all sizes, are becoming increasingly important when it comes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and meeting the goals that have been set for their emissions.
In Iceland, the main challenge is polluting transportation and waste emissions. We intend to demonstrate social responsibility in action by:
- Draga úr losun gróðurhúsalofttegunda
- Minnka myndun úrgangs
- Measure the results and regularly publish information on the status of the above factors
