Let's look inward to achieve success
This week, Festa – a center for sustainability, is hosting its tenth January conference, and this year's theme is Looking Inside.
Á Janúarráðstefnu Festu, sem er stærsti árlegi sjálfbærniviðburður á Íslandi, kynnum við það helsta sem er í brennidepli í heimi sjálfbærni. Í ár kynnumst við því hvernig íslenski verkfræðingurinn og frumkvöðullinn, Friðrik R. Jónsson, vinnur að lausnum gegn stærstu áskorunum samtímans, ráðherra nýsköpunar segir frá nýjum áherslum í átt að sjálfbærni, Dóra Jóhanns talar hugmyndir fram í dagsljósið og forseti Ungra umhverfissinna tekur púlsinn á íslensku atvinnulífi. Í stórum dráttum kynnum við strauma og stefnur á sviði nýsköpunar og hugvits annars vegar, og hins vegar þær lagabreytingar og auknar kröfur um sjálfbærniupplýsingagjöf til fyrirtækja af öllum stærðum sem eru í farvatninu á Íslandi. Markmiðið er að undirbúa íslenskt atvinnulíf sem allra best fyrir þær áskoranir og tækifæri sem liggja fyrir.
Three lenses separate the kernel from the chaff. The program will feature three discussion panels. They are designed as a powerful introduction to each topic and a rewarding and instructive conversation between experts and managers in all areas of the Icelandic business community. The discussions are led by our top people in each field, who have spent the past few months preparing the material in workshops with dozens of people from the Festa community and related parties. The result will be knowledge of both breadth and depth, and we will leave with experience and knowledge richer.
There are three discussion forums and the question is, which one appeals to you the most?
Laws and regulationsThe names and acronyms of new laws can be overwhelming: EU Taxonomy, SFDR, CSRD, and so on. We're going to simplify this.
The purpose of the law is to prevent greenwashing, promote sustainable and responsible investments, increase transparency, and encourage capital to support the three pillars of sustainability: environment, social aspects, and governance.
Í umræðustofunni rekjum við áhrif þessara breytinga á lítil, meðalstór og stór fyrirtæki og á degi ráðstefnunnar gefur Festa út yfirgripsmikinn og hnitmiðaðan vegvísi um þessar reglugerðir. Umræðustofan er leidd af Tómasi N. Möller, yfirlögfræðingi hjá Lífeyrissjóði verzlunarmanna og formanni Festu.
„Við ætlum að vera með fókusinn á evrópulöggjöf, og sú löggjöf á við okkur hér á landi vegna þess að hún verður hluti af EES samningnum. Við reynum að horfa á það hvernig löggjöfin tengir saman fyrirtæki í raunhagkerfinu: framleiðslu og þjónustufyrirtæki og fjármálafyrirtæki: fjárfesta, lífeyrissjóði, banka, tryggingarfélög, fjárfestingarsjóðir og annað. Þetta byggir allt á massívri áætlun evrópusambandsins frá 2018 og þessum svokallaða “Green deal” frá 2019.“ Tómas N Möller. Grænn samfélagssáttmáli ESB (e. Green deal) hefur það markmið að gera hagkerfi evrópusambandsins sjálfbært.
Tómas will be joined by Vilhjálmur Þór Svansson, Senior Legal Officer at Creditinfo hf., Kristbjörg M Kristinsdóttir, CFO of Stefnir hf. and Chairman of the Board of IcelandSIF, Þorsteinn Kári Jónsson, Director of Sustainability and Community Relations at Marel, and Sigríður Ósk Bjarnadóttir, Director of Environmental Affairs at Hornstein.
Sustainability Disclosure Companies face significant changes when it comes to communicating information about sustainability in their operations. What information needs to be disclosed and how best to disclose it so that it complies with laws and regulations and is meaningful to stakeholders?
Fyrirtæki af öllum stærðargráðum bera hag af því að huga að því hvernig þau miðla sjálfbærniupplýsingum til þess að tryggja sér góð viðskipti og samkeppnisstöðu og gæta þess að þau verði ekki uppvís af grænþvotti. Sjálfbærniupplýsingagjöfin er ekki markmið í sjálfu sér, heldur hugsuð sem samanburðarhæf og trúverðug frásögn um að rekstur sé í raun sjálfbær.
Aðalheiður Snæbjarnardóttir, Head of Sustainability at Landsbanki and Vice Chair of Festa, will lead the discussion panel.

Sjálfbær nýsköpun og hringrásarhagkerfið
Margrét Ormslev, umræðustjóri umræðustofunnar um sjálfbæra nýsköpun og hringrás kjarnar tilgang hennar vel:
“Resources are not unlimited on Earth. We need to find ways to better utilize them to maintain and enhance the quality of life as well as protect the diversity of ecosystems. What I have seen over the years is that the private sector is ready to run: lots of people, lots of companies, great ideas and everyone wants to work together on some kind of solution. We really need to blow this up a little bit… Where does the uncertainty lie? What is going on right now and where do the opportunities lie in Iceland? I hope everyone in the room can stand up and share if they have any ideas in their stomachs and in what direction we can put these things.”.”
