Can we as individuals live a sustainable life while being completely dependent on the unsustainable system for all our basic needs? How can we work towards the global goals together, across systems? Do we need to change both structure and culture?

"The implementation of the global goals is rooted in the structure and culture of a system that does not allow for challenges that cut across a layered "vertical" governance system"

Í þessu fréttabréfi fáum við tól til aðgerða. Lærum um skapandi sjálfbærni og ræðum loftslagsmálin og samfélagið í gegnum ljóðlistina.

Our guest writers this month are Héðinn Unnsteinsson and Bryndís Fiona Ford. Héðinn is the chair of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Task Force and Bryndís is the principal of Hallormsstaðaskóli. Eydís Blöndal, a poet, is the interviewer in the conversation. They all approach environmental issues from different angles but artistically well. We encourage you all to enjoy reading and nurture your strengths for good, just as the three mentioned above have certainly done.

"We have become so dependent that most of us have become almost incapable of taking care of ourselves. We rely on the system to provide us with food, water, clothing, shelter, medicine, energy and income."
