Festa – Central Bank Liaison Meeting

@Central Bank

The Central Bank of Iceland invites member associations to a networking meeting

Climate change is the greatest challenge of our time, threatening the prosperity, well-being and existence of humanity. Climate risk, including the risk posed by the transition to a carbon-neutral economy, poses a challenge to the financial system and the economy as a whole. No responsible participant in the nation's economy can remain silent.

It is important that central banks respect their statutory mandate and act responsibly. The Central Bank’s mandate includes identifying, assessing and monitoring potential risks and impacts of climate change, both on the broader economy and on the resilience of the financial system. The Central Bank’s Financial Supervisory Authority also oversees sustainability regulations that apply to financial market participants and financial advisors, such as the EU Taxonomy and SFDR. The Central Bank has also committed to setting a good example by moving its own operations and activities towards carbon neutrality.

The meeting will review the Central Bank's sustainability journey, BREEAM certification of construction work on the Central Bank building, and how sustainability issues relate to the Central Bank's professional goals.

Gunnar Jakobsson, varaseðlabankastjóri fjármálastöðugleika, Tinna Hallgrímsdóttir, sérfræðingur í loftslagsáhættu og sjálfbærni, Einar Már Hjartarson, framkvæmdastjóri reksturs og Þröstur Bergmann, verkefnastjóri í hátt semiseftirliti taka á móti gestum ásamt fleirum úr teymi bankans.
