After years of fighting for climate action that left activist Katie Hodgetts burned out, she founded The Resilience Project, a youth-led initiative that aims to strengthen the mental health of young activists, many of whom struggle with crippling climate anxiety.
The project empowers young people to take a stand in their fight for a more sustainable future. The Resilience Project supports future sustainability leaders in building networks of connection and empathy in the face of daunting challenges.
Katie also sits on the IKEA Global Youth Board to facilitate impactful conversations across sectors. Pizza will be served while we chat with Katie about her journey and what we can learn from her.
The Environment Agency is offering accommodation, but we will be on the 5th floor of Suðurlandsbraut 24 and can be reached directly by elevator.
______________
Katie Hodgetts has addressed Heads of State, crowds of tens of thousands, and CEOs of the world's largest companies, speaking on topics ranging from climate and mental health to activation. At the age of 24, she founded the Resilience Project, driven by the observation of limited psychological and inner-led support available for young people dealing with burnout, climate anxiety, and the responsibility of being the generation to address these challenges. Her organization equips young individuals with transformational skills essential for navigating the evolving world, guiding hundreds of participants through its 'life-changing' 8-week Resilience Circle program.
Recognized for her contributions to Mental Health and Climate initiatives, Katie has graced international stages and serves on IKEA’s Young Global Leaders Board.
Festa - Center for Sustainability extends an invitation to all young people (35 years and under) to join in a conversation and pizza session with Katie this Wednesday, January 24th, from 17:00 to 18:00 at the offices of Umhverfisstofnun on the 5th floor of Suðurlandsbraut 24.
