Janúarráðstefna Festu 2024

@ Harpa, Silfurberg

  • Agenda

There will also be plenty of fun, entertainment, and humor.

The January Conference has sold out in recent years, so we encourage you to secure your tickets as soon as possible. Please note that there are special ticket prices for Festa member association staff and university students.

Two-person conversation

Two-person talk, or trúnó, is a new program where two individuals from different backgrounds meet on stage and answer big questions in a short period of time.

Sandrine Dixson-Declève is a global leader and has been at the forefront of the fight against climate change, sustainable development, sustainable finance, and systemic change for years.

Sandrine has traveled widely and made an impact all over the world. She is the author of numerous publications and recently published the book Earth for All: A Survival Guide for Humanity in collaboration with a group of scientists. World-renowned scientist Johan Rockström, who spoke at the Festa 2022 January Conference, is one of the co-authors of the book, which is now available at the Student Bookstore. The book outlines the key issues that humanity needs to focus on in order to thrive and prosper; energy, food, inequality, poverty and population growth.

Sandrine recently received the Aenne Burda Award, which is presented at one of Europe's leading innovation conferences, the DLD Conference. The award is given to women with visionary ideas and who have demonstrated creative leadership.

Sandrine situr í nokkrum alþjóðlegum ráðum á vettvangi Evrópusambandsins og hefur síðan 2018 setið sem forseti The Club of Rome og er hún ásamt Maphela Ramphela fyrst kvenna til að sinna því embætti. The Club of Rome er samfélag fjölbreyttra hugsunarleiðtoga sem bera kennsl á heildrænar lausnir á flóknum alþjóðlegum málum og stuðla að stefnumótun og aðgerðum til að gera mannkyninu kleift að takast á við sínar stærstu áskoranir.

Sandrine is also a special ambassador for the Wellbeing Economy Alliance (weall.org), where Iceland is one of the leading nations.

Höllu Tómasar þarf vart að kynna, en það er óhætt að segja að Halla sé einn áhrifamesti Íslendingurinn á alþjóðavettvangi í dag. Halla er brautryðjandi leiðtogi sem á glæstan feril hér heima og á erlendis; framkvæmdastjóri Viðskiptaráðs, uppbygging Háskólans í Reykjavík, uppbyggingarverkefni eftir hrunið, verkefnin Auður í krafti kvenna og Auður Capital sett á fót, forsetaframboð, stjórnun í alþjóðlegum fyrirtækjum og margt, margt fleira.

Today, Halla is the CEO of B Team, an international group of leaders who drive change and better business practices, with the well-being of people and the planet in mind.

On the occasion of the January Conference, Unnsteinn Manuel Stefánsson will have a meaningful and productive conversation with Halla, which will be shown at the conference.

Today's sustainability regulations require companies to pay even more attention to the social aspects of sustainability in their operations. We will reflect this positive development in the theme of this year's conference. In recent years, Róbert Spanó has been consulting in connection with the implementation of such regulations, and Róbert is a leading expert when it comes to human rights law, international law and European law. Róbert is a former President of the European Court of Human Rights and also the youngest in the history of the court to hold that position. Today, he is a partner in the law firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP.

After years of fighting for climate action that left activist Katie Hodgetts burned out, she founded The Resilience Project, a youth-led initiative that aims to strengthen the mental health of young activists, many of whom struggle with crippling climate anxiety.

Verkefnið er áhrifamikið um heim allan og valdeflir ungt fólk til þess að standa keik í sinni baráttu fyrir sjálfbærari framtíð. The Resilience Project styður sjálfbærnileiðtoga framtíðarinnar við að byggja net tengingar og samkenndar andspænis ógnarstórum áskorunum.

Forsprakki hreyfingarinnar, Katie, hefur skipulagt ótal herferðir og hlotið fjölmargar viðurkenningar fyrir framúrskarandi forystu. Í dag situr hún í alþjóðlegri ungmennastjórn IKEA til þess að greiða fyrir áhrifamiklum samtölum þvert á geira.

Andri Þór Guðmundsson has been with Ölgerðinn for over two decades. Andri joined the company in 2002, first as CFO and then as CEO from November 2004. Previously, he worked in marketing and finance at Almenna bókafélagið and Lýs hf. Andri has served on various boards of companies and organizations.

No one has led Ölgerðin through the company's sustainability journey, but Ölgerðin has great ambitions in the field of sustainability and is systematically implementing sustainability into the company's culture. Among other things, Ölgerðin has set scientific goals for reducing emissions (Science Based Targets (SBTi). Ölgerðin is also part of the balance sheet and has been systematically working to improve a culture that supports equal opportunities.

Andri will share with conference guests how implementing sustainability into the core of operations delivers real results.

Gunnar is a partner and head of sustainability and climate at Deloitte Iceland, as well as part of the company's Nordic management team. He has diverse international experience and has worked with leading companies and institutions on their sustainability journeys.

At the January conference, Gunnar will give a thought-provoking talk entitled “Outside the comfort zone – new thinking for new solutions” where the sustainability journey is placed in a larger context. How do we step outside the comfort zone, create space for new thoughts that potentially yield new solutions and opportunities? How do we become part of something bigger than ourselves?

Þórey V. Proppé is the CEO and founder of Alda, an Icelandic technology company that develops DEI (diversity, equality and inclusion) software for workplaces around the world. She previously led projects with such emphases at various companies and institutions in Iceland, such as the Alþingi and the National Police. Þórey was also a consultant at Capacent and a principal advisor to the Minister of the Interior. She was a board member of the UN Women National Committee and is the founder and chair of the Icelandic committee of the V-Day organization, which fights violence against women.

Alda was recently selected to the list of leading technology solutions in Diversity and Inclusion by the international consulting and analysis company Gartner.

Andri Guðmundsson is the co-founder of VAXA. VAXA grows high-quality vegetables year-round in a controlled environment (Controlled Environment Agriculture) in Reykjavík. VAXA's main mission is to provide consumers with healthy and clean high-quality products grown in a sustainable and responsible manner. Previously, Andri worked as Managing Director of Corporate Advisory at Fossar Markets and was responsible for, among other things, the issuance of the first green and social bonds in Iceland.
