Össur hf. hlaut hvatningarverðlaun fyrir Framúrskarandi sjálfbærni árið 2023, en Creditinfo og Festa standa að baki verðlaunanna. Verðlaunin eru veitt samhliða birtingu lista yfir Framúrskarandi fyrirtæki 2023.

The judging panel included Erla Tryggvadóttir, Communications Manager at VÍS, Þórólfur Nielsen, Director of Strategy and Sustainability at Landsvirkjun, Bryndís Björk Ásgeirsdóttir, President of the Department of Social Sciences at Reykjavík University, and Finnur Ricart Andrason, President of the Young Environmentalists. Þórólfur and Bryndís also sit on the board of Festa.

Í fararbrotti í sjálfbærni um árabil

The jury's comments state that Össur, which has been a member of Festa since 2014, has been committed to sustainability for years and is at the forefront, whether in terms of environmental, social or governance issues.

The jury's reasoning also states that "the company's external management and organization of sustainability work is in a fixed position. Within the company, there is a special steering group on sustainability, led by the Director of Human Resources, Policy and Sustainability. The steering group reports directly to the company's management. The unit is tasked with shaping and following up on the company's sustainability focus and is responsible for maintaining and acquiring increased knowledge of international policies and trends regarding this constantly evolving issue. The company's approach to sustainability has a broad appeal and the company has found a good balance when it comes to emphases and actions within different dimensions of sustainability."

The jury also mentions that the company emphasizes equality, equal opportunities and diversity. "The company has achieved success in this area and is systematically working to continuously improve. Í verkefninu taka þátt þeir forstjórar íslenskra fyrirtækja sem hafa skuldbundið sig að aðlaga kolefnisfótspor sitt að Parísarsáttmálanum með því að setja sér markmið um samdrátt í losun samkvæmt Science Based Targets. Í gegnum tíðina hafa Össur og Festa unnið saman að fleiri sjálfbærnimiðuðum verkefnum, til dæmis að fellowship verkefninu Aðildi.
