Ábyrg ferðaþjónusta er hvatningarverkefni sem Íslenski ferðaklasinn og Festa áttu frumkvæði að árið 2017, um að íslensk ferðaþjónustufyrirtæki sammælist um nokkrar skýrar og einfaldar aðgerðir um ábyrga ferðaþjónustu. Festa er ekki lengur framkvæmdaraðili að verkefninu en styður það áfram í höndum Ferðaklasans og samstarfsaðila. Tilgangur verkefnisins er að stuðla að því að Ísland verði ákjósanlegur áfangastaður um ókomna tíð sem styður við sjálfbærni fyrir komandi kynslóðir þjóðarinnar
About the project
Árið 2016 áttu Festa, SAF og Íslenski ferðaklasinn nokkra fundi þar semrætt var samstarf um samfélagsábyrgð í ferðaþjónustu en þessir aðilar stóðu m.a að vinnustofu um Ábyrga ferðaþjónustu í janúar 2016. Í framhaldi ákváðu Ferðaklasinn og Festa að vinna saman að framkvæmd hvatningarátaks um ábyrga ferðaþjónustu og það skyldi gert í samstarfi við sem flesta aðila ferðaþjónustunnar. Úr varð að ári síðar eða 10.janúar 2017 skrifuðu yfir 300 fyrirtæki undir yfirlýsingu um Ábyrga ferðaþjónustu og skuldbundu sig þar með til að birta markmið sín með sannarlegum hætti fyrir lok árs 2017.
Árið 2019 dró Festa sig til baka sem framkvæmdaraðili að verkefninu, enda það komið í hendur kröftugra samstarfsaðila í ferðaþjónustu.
Horft er til þess að fyrirtækin setji sér markmið í neðangreindum atriðum en sérstakt fræðsluprógramm hefur einnig verið keyrt til samræmis við þessa flokka og til þess að auðvelda fyrirtækjum að yfirfæra þekkingu og læra af hvert öðru.

Developer
The Icelandic travel cluster is the main developer of responsible tourism today. Festa considers Responsible Tourism to be one of the most important driving force projects in Icelandic business life and wholeheartedly supports the project, even though its implementation is no longer on Festa's agenda. Festa sees it as its role to move where improvements can be made towards sustainability and social responsibility. We are a very small office, but we have come to the establishment of motivational and motivational projects like this, and we welcome it when such projects go into the hands of key players in the relevant field, in this case the travel service.

Tourism in Iceland is an important industry that can contribute to the long-term welfare and good reputation of the nation.
In the tourism industry, there are many challenges related to corporate social responsibility. This includes increased encroachment on nature, that the rights of staff are respected, that the local communities visited by tourists receive a fair share of the benefits, and not least that the safety of tourists is guaranteed and they are provided with good service.
