Auratal: Hagnaður af sjálfbærni

The world is changing a lot and fast. The international and domestic challenges that have faced us now become clearer than ever before. Never has the need for and call for sustainability and social responsibility been more important and will continue to do so in the coming months and years. This promotional and educational initiative that we present here is therefore particularly well-timed. Targeted implementation of social responsibility and sustainability brings diverse benefits to companies and organizations, such as optimization and reduced waste, better risk management and reputation with customers, and increased job satisfaction due to an increased focus on equality and health.

Any kind of strategic planning, review of a company's operations and the implementation of new practices can be costly at the beginning, but Festu was curious to know how the financial benefits of sustainability manifest themselves after the journey has begun in earnest.

Nanna Elísa Jakobsdóttir, an expert in international relations and former journalist, spoke at the end of 2019 with the managing directors of seven Festa member associations and found out that although financial gain is not the main driving force when starting out, it is an undoubted side effect of implementing social responsibility in business operations.

Companies that focus on the environment, social aspects and good governance experience increased investor interest, customers prefer their products over others, talented people seek to work for them and long-term profits increase.
